The mighty flush!

Yesterday, while at Highwic House, I noticed the toilet cistern behind the door in the bathroom. The cistern was right up at ceiling height. Imagine the force of the flush when you 'pulled the chain' on this one!

Love these old cisterns....I am sorry to say I remember these as an everyday type of flushing system.

@happypat Yes - where @julzmaioro and I stayed in the South Island at a lovely old homestead, there was a lovely copper cistern (not quite as high on the wall) and I was disappointed that I didn't take a photo of it. The bathroom was still in use.
