Another image from the Tiritiri Island visit a few weeks ago. This is a juvenile saddleback feeding on the nectar from the pohutukawa flowers.

@golftragic they have finished flowering now - this was taken in December, although flowering is surprisingly spread out and varies from tree to tree.

Lovely shot. David is the bird photographer in our family and unfortunately he didn't get chance to photograph many birds while we were in New Zealand. He did get a great shot of an albatross when we were at sea though.

@onewing You will have to visit NZ again and make sure you visit Tritiri Matangi Island - an open sanctuary 1 hour by ferry from Auckland. David would be most impressed!
