Wintertime and the cattle all love the hay. This is 'Big Red' - the only one from last year and she looks a giant against this years animals. When she arrived last year, she was pretty shy, as she had been reared on her mum and unused to humans. She's pretty tame now.
STUNNING photo! I don't know why your photos have not been coming up on my feed but I just looked at quite a few and your skills are amazing. I want to thank you for your non critical words on the picture I posted yesterday. Obviously, those that commented were not from a small rural community where 4-H is a positive experience for many of our youth. Their animals are lovingly cared for while the members learn responsibility that carries over throughout life. There is no taking this picture back so for the next week I will endeavor to photograph more positive scenes of this wonderful learning experience for our 4-H youth.
@essiesue thanks. In NZ many rural school have 'Calf Club'. A day where students bring a calf, lamb, goat or chicken to school for judging. Then as they get older and if they are keen, they can show animals at Agricultural and Pastoral shows. So nice to see the beautifully cared for and immaculately presented animals.
