A few of us are in an Auckland Camera Clubs' shootout competition. It runs for a week and we got the topics last night. It's heaps of fun and there are about 12 different clubs that compete. Between 8 of us, we need to get 6 images (one to match each topic). One of the topics is 'abstract, depicting Auckland' - there is heaps of lovely bush within the greater Auckland area, so today @julzmaioro and I went exploring. Do you think I should crop the sides in so the image finishes on the dark tree trunks?
no i dont think it needs cropping, i like seeing space beyond. much fun in this technique isnt there

Very cool - I don't think it needs to be cropped either

Looks good like this .. by leaving it there you can see that it is a tree ... with it cropped there would be some doubt.. excellent 'shakes' shot..

This is just lovely as it is...I think cropping would spoil this beautiful effect...

Lovely result of I.C.M. I would stick with it no crop required, the left and right darkness draws the eye into the image, looks like you nailed this challenge Nova:)

No, don't crop this. It's too good to lose any.

I don't think it needs cropping, it almost looks like a curve inwards toward the dark before the trees, almost 3D.

Great ICM shot. On balance I think no to cropping - though difficult to tell without seeing, but I might be tempted to slightly darken the left and right sides (slightly more on the right) up to the dark trunks to give a side vignette & make the centre pop. Of course I might do that and then think that was a waste of time! ;-)
