Gumboots

One of the classes at school put on a skit today at assembly. It involved the whole class and lots of dressing up - including some of the boys who made wonderful opera singers! They all had fun putting the dance together. Here's a link to the lyrics and tune for the song - somewhat of a NZ icon. The song was often sung by 'Fred Dagg' (John Clarke) - a fictional character who reputedly had a family of sons - all called Trev.

So very true, where on earth would we be without gumboots? Funny all the different names gum boots have in different countries but we all pretty much know what they are! Wellington boots or wellies in the UK.

Great collage, so expressive. And just love Fred Dagg, I'm still mourning John Clarke. Clarke and Dawe's weekly piece was a highlight. Still miss Footrot Flats and Murray Ball too.

@golftragic you almost sound like a kiwi!

@golftragic @dide I was about to say the same... Marnie a Kiwi at heart...

@dide @julzmaioro From you two I'll take that as a compliment. But hey, who couldn't get a good laugh from those people. I've got an enlarged copy of a FF cartoon hangin in my study with Dog plodding through heavy rain, skipping and bouncing through the rain. Last frame: stomping along saying 'To hell with looking on the bright side!". BTW, meant to say yesterday that I've known a few people refer to gumboots as 'water-boots'. Definitely not common, at least in Victoria.
