This was a sport/hobby that I had never seen before in NZ. The lady in the spotted dress was the judge and she was happily giving the contestants 'pointers' after the competition. The drivers had to take their animals and carts around an obstacle course with cones, mats etc.
@thrumylenz I asked them where they were from - some from Hamilton, one from Raglan and some from Auckland. I was disappointed as I need some images of older people doing different/challenging things…but they need to be residents of Franklin!
