I went to the beach this evening to see what it was like as it's been pretty windy today. It was strange lighting with a misty sea fog. The waves were sweeping up high onto the beach and the sea was making a big roaring noise.
@louannwarren yes the tail end of the cyclone has lashed the lower half of the North Island and the top half of the South Island causing flooding, power cuts, road slips and damage to houses. Where we are in the North, we just had some big wind but no damage.
@golftragic yes there was all sorts of damage in lower North Island and upper South Island. One area in top of south is completely cut off by a road slip.
@dide OMG, how ghastly for them. We've seen images of horrendous damage in our media, did you get affected at all? And even after yet another of these disasters our pollies are still dithering about climate change!!
