This is how close we were to the beach at Tapapakanga. It was such a lovely spot…But, as we were about to leave the next morning, the park ranger turned up. Seems we weren't really supposed to be parked in this area. We felt privileged to have had the night there, blissfully unaware that vans are not allowed here (no sign to tell us!)
Good for you Dianne, you beat the warden! No sign so no trespassing! Glad he didn't come until morning! I thought you could pretty much park up where you liked off the beaten track! Gorgeous place! Plead ignorance everytime!
@happypat yes there’s lots of places to freedom camp in NZ. This is within the regional park (Auckland region) which we have an annual pass for. We just parked in the wrong area! Was lovely going to sleep then waking to the gentle noise of the sea.
