Basalt rocks by dide

Basalt rocks

Today we visited the basalt rocks on Chatham Island. These rocks were used by the Moriori to make adzes. The rocks are part of a lava flow from around 79 million years ago. Another foggy/rainy day but it hasn’t hampered us exploring more corners of the island. Such a great place for a holiday.
It was an amazing sight..

Lovely capture Dianne Basalt rock looks almost man made to me, it underlies more of Earth's surface than any other rock type and can also be found on the moon:)
