The beach

We had dinner at the beach last night. It was a bit cold so we took the van and cooked pizza then sat inside watching the sun go down. Before dinner I went for a walk - this huge log had been washed up onto the shore. Up on the hill is a classy restaurant and lots of chalets.
That black sand is incredible, as is that massive log. The restaurant and chalets must have a fantastic view. Lovely image.

Your volcanic sand looks amazing with that pale tree trunk. I can see your van!

@happypat yes - that’s us. This beach is 4 km from home so we are lucky to be able to go there in the evenings when it’s not crazy busy.

Beautiful light, colour and clarity Dianne I assume from the colour of the beach it was volcanic and the black sand is basalt created by lava flowing into the ocean many many years ago:)
