A piece of history

This is the old Mangere Bridge. I was on a bike ride on the walkway that is part of the motorway bridge. In the front is the Mangere Bridge built in 1913. It is being removed and a pedestrian/cycleway is replacing it. This is also an area popular for fishermen, so they will be pleased to have it finished so they can continue with their land based fishing.
Great record shot Dianne, the march of time captured well:)

End of an era, nice to see you have caught the historic moment.

Did we used to drive over this bridge on the way to Auckland airport?
Changed so much round there over the years so it’s good to see this original bridge being brought to life!

I though the old bridge already served as a cycle/walkway. I'll be driving past there on Saturday - I will give myself time to stop and look. Great capture of an end of an era.

It would be nice to walk on that bridge with wide open sea views.
