GOTT MIT UNS by digitalrn

GOTT MIT UNS

Translated from German it is God With Us. This belt buckle was among my Father's remaining belongings. I believe somehow my Grandfather acquired this during his time fighting in WW1. From what I can determine, it is a WW1 belt buckle bearing the Imperial Crown, and the Nazi Cross on top. It is in almost perfect condition. Another item for the memory box. The night was long, but fun. I will catch up on everyone's postings tomorrow, and will comment at that time. Now I am going to bed. Have a great Sunday, and Gott Ist Mit Ihnen (God Be With You)
Interesting :)

Fascinating Rick. My grandfather brought back a cuckoo clock from the Black Forest after WWI. Items like these are priceless.

Hard to reconcile the nazi cross with the sentiment about God but the icon must have had a different meaning in WW I. Great image.

@allie912 I thought the exact same thing when I saw it Allison, knowing how Godless the whole ordeal was. I didn't realize there was room for God in all that happened.
