This past year was quite eventful. The first highlight was our daughter Stef coming home after being gone for four years. Then she found her soulmate (Pete) which became quite serious, and now they have a house of their own, and doing very well. Our son Peyton found his soulmate (Afton) and that also became serious, and now, as of the New Year, they have moved to their own house. So we have now become official empty nesters. Quite an adjustment. The first time in almost 29 years that we are once again alone, well almost. We still have the two boys, Toby and Kiko. I was reading this little book, "Live Learn & Pass It On" by H. Jackson Brown, and I love some of the things he points out. As we celebrated Christmas with my side of the family last evening, I was once again reminded of the importance of family. If you have a loving family, it's amazing what you can do without.
Wow, this is so poignant. That quote really applies to my life too. That's even my age on the page - 39! I enjoyed reading your caption about your family. Nicely done!
I remember reading of your joy as you welcomed your daughter home. That had to have been the highlight of your year. You are right, through it all, nothing takes the place of family.
