I'm always saying something similar to folks in my photo club- "There's always something to photograph. You just have to look."
I also liked Freeman Patterson's method. When you're going to photograph somewhere, take the first 15 minutes to sit there and look around. Then pick up your camera. I do that a lot- or I walk VERY slowly taking in "the moment" as Kilbee says.
I was lucky enough to meet him when I joined him on a 'co-hort' in San Francisco for the Irving Penn exhibit last month. He shares his knowledge of photography in a most approachable way. I have been watching his YouTube videos for several years now. Highly recommend his channel.

@olivetreeann - I like that advise: “take 15 minutes to sit 5here and look around”. Connect to the place, the light, the moment.
