I've just shot this today and its something i've been trying for for almost a year. I'm so pleased to have finally got a decent shot of the swan flap http://365project.org/kmrtn6/365/2012-03-11
i think it's the shot i'm most proud of this year so far, followed by possibly this one
of the moon as it's the best i;ve got with the detail on http://365project.org/kmrtn6/365/2012-03-07
From Feb 29....I tend to avoid b&w because of how flat it usually looks, but in this case, the processing enhanced the detail and turned it into a b&w with a great deal of texture and mood:
And I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but because of how FUN it was to set up and process and the fact it was the first time I successfully captured steam (and then turned it to fire in post processing), I have to go with my shot from yesterday:
I was really pleased with the way this one turned out:
Also I think possibly yesterday's picture was my second favourite because we had such a great day, we went there for Jen's birthday and when the hot air balloon appeared over the city and the bridge it was incredible.
Hmmmmmmmmm tough decision...I guess I'd pick this one because Kevin's thread got me to try something I never would have thought to try otherwise, and encourages me to think outside the box more:
I guess what else is most impressive to me is looking at the usual everyday things around me & seeing something new in them, something suddenly worthy of a picture. A lot of my pics of nothing in particular could illustrate this lol, but I guess I'll pick this one:
Tough question. I have a shot that I LOVE in my project that is simple, but I have shared it in many discussions, so I will leave it out. Instead, I will focus on not the shots that I am proud of, but my skills.
I proud I have learned the genre of fantasy. I can make pics of my kids doing anything and they LOVE it!
"Drawing on the Moon"
I am also proud that I have learned how to find the little beauties in life and process them in a way that I like.
This one because of where I was on New Years day, limping about on crutches but I was there!!
And this because it made PP, and I'm still really happy with it.
I have some shots which I am proud of for sentimental reasons but I have really enjoyed this week and playing with my macro lens, when i first tried it I realised how tricky it can be!
A new feel for photography came to me the morning I took pictures of my son throwing gumballs all over the dining room, thinking they were just toy balls.
And everyone always gets beautiful birthday-cake pictures... except me! I always stink at it, but this one came out nicely (to me):
I'm so happy that this turned out exactly how I pictured it in my head!
This on the other hand was a complete surprise, but I love it!!!
Ironically both these shots made it into the Top 5 for the theme vote :))
I think this has to be one of my favourites although the 5th shot has bugged me eversince I uploaded it. I've sorted out the background colour now , but this was the original attempt
I'm not sure about a second...this one maybe? There's another I like, probably an equal amount - the Giant Pebbles shot at the end of September, shot at the same place but in early afternoon September sun rather than late afternoon Autumn sun...
I'm proud of many of my shots. But if I had to pick two recently, I guess it would these two since the first one finished at #1 in early Feb and the next one which sky rocketed over night to finished in top 10 a few weeks ago. Plus both were difficult shoots that I've tried before and then finally got just as I wanted them. So special in that regard. But I got to throw in a 3rd one which was also a top 10 pic and was selected as a finalist for theme-onthestreet:
I would say this one, because it was taken really quickly at the end of class, through glass, with my little p&s
And this one because it was a sneaky 'oh yes, I'm looking at photos on my camera, not trying to take them' moment and he looks really peaceful and content
I'm proud of this one, because it required me to step out of my comfort zone and to try something completely new to me:
I'm proud of this one, because night photography is not my strong point. It took several shots to get this, but I was very excited to get one that was so amazing.
I just love this portrait of my daughter and her slight mona lisa smile
My son doesnt let me take photos of him anymore, so i have another 10 months of his album to fill which will be hard! this was one of my attempts so he didnt see the camera, it sybolises exactly where he is in the world at the moment, too big to be a baby and not big enough to be a big kid :-)
I'm happy with my last two posts. They haven't grown old yet. I love the misty photo of a little girl I saw today at the Botanic Gardens and also last night's two shots from my first attempt at light painting is just a fun photo.
Ship in Port is my first pick. I love the clean shot and the lines of the fence that leads your eye to the lines of the ship.
Timeless beauty up in flames is my second pick. I was just at the right place at the right time. My camera in the passenger seat. It just tells a sad, dramatic story. It was also selected as photo of the day on the local news channel:
My two are photos I wouldn't have taken a year ago: this one because I wouldn't have thought much about the simple play of light and shadow
and this one because I have been working on light trails and recently learned how to layer photos (and because I caught a train light trail in the process, which really excited me):
This one because I can only use manual focus with my big lens and I can't believe how well it turned out. (There was a significant amount of luck involved.)
And I think this one because it's the first time I've tried something different with editing a shot I ordinarily would have deleted, but I like how it turned out.
This was such a fun thread to look through, I really enjoyed it!
Here are the ones that are my favorite
I love how this one turned out. Totally wasn't expecting this shot to turn out like it did under the circumstances
I think this one is my number 1... It's an old church that I drive past frequently. I loved the way it caught my eye as I drove past one misty morning, so I had to turn around and grab a few shots...
Number 2 was harder to pick, but this one of my old pocket watch holds a pretty big spot in my heart.
This one, because I have learnt so much about looking at the world differently and was I proud to have made something which actually is very ugly look rather beautiful and intriguing (IMO)
And this one, because I have worked really hard at learning how to use my camera manually and to expose for shots with lights at night, it all came together for this one, but you have no idea how many times I tried and failed in the past! Plus, I'm very proud that it was my first to appear on the PP
These are amazing shots...so a little new here still, how do I post a picture here or when there are theme shots and have it show up in the right place?
I'm not sure 'proud' is the right wrord for me and these photos. i'm not proud of any of my pictures as I just snap them and put up something I think is reasonable, but these are a couple of my favourites...
these are two of my favourites so far..."christmas spoils" because it was one of my first photos in the project, and "petals" because i was just messing around and got this totally unexpected photo that i was delighted with.
From January 9th
From yesterday, March 10th
Because it was my first shot of something alive for the project (up until then I took photos of things that don't move, haha):
And this one:
And I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but because of how FUN it was to set up and process and the fact it was the first time I successfully captured steam (and then turned it to fire in post processing), I have to go with my shot from yesterday:

and this was done in manual settings in my canon powershot which proves its not about what camera you have
and this one
and this one...
2. Being cam ready and acting fast when kitty got thirsty
This is probably the most fave picture I've taken of my daughter this past year.
This one just worked out better than I planned.
And everyone always gets beautiful birthday-cake pictures... except me! I always stink at it, but this one came out nicely (to me):
and this one because I love the edit...
And this one because it sparked the crystal ball trend, and it's an iPhone Hipstamatic shot.
This one is my favorite so far.
...and this one which I took just yesterday, so it's fresh :)
And this one because the light was so perfect and I used the few minutes I had to capture exactly what I saw in my head...
This on the other hand was a complete surprise, but I love it!!!
Ironically both these shots made it into the Top 5 for the theme vote :))
And this one because it was the first time I got a moving bird in focus
And this one because it shows how much I am learning about editing.
I'm not sure about a second...this one maybe? There's another I like, probably an equal amount - the Giant Pebbles shot at the end of September, shot at the same place but in early afternoon September sun rather than late afternoon Autumn sun...

I'm proud of this one, because night photography is not my strong point. It took several shots to get this, but I was very excited to get one that was so amazing.
and this one because I don't always think about lighting but I made a big effort to incorporate it in this picture.
Love how this turned out
And this one because it's my stomping grounds...
My son doesnt let me take photos of him anymore, so i have another 10 months of his album to fill which will be hard! this was one of my attempts so he didnt see the camera, it sybolises exactly where he is in the world at the moment, too big to be a baby and not big enough to be a big kid :-)
I love this one because it has such great lines.
I'm happy with my last two posts. They haven't grown old yet. I love the misty photo of a little girl I saw today at the Botanic Gardens and also last night's two shots from my first attempt at light painting is just a fun photo.

With my D200:
and this one because I have been working on light trails and recently learned how to layer photos (and because I caught a train light trail in the process, which really excited me):
And I was really happy with the composition of this one:
I think this....
and this one...
And this one, it took me 3 years to catch her doing this with my camera
And I think this one because it's the first time I've tried something different with editing a shot I ordinarily would have deleted, but I like how it turned out.
Here are the ones that are my favorite
I love how this one turned out. Totally wasn't expecting this shot to turn out like it did under the circumstances
And this of my youngest son
And this one, because I love the place, and the quietness this photo inspires, and the tones...
and this one . . .
Number 2 was harder to pick, but this one of my old pocket watch holds a pretty big spot in my heart.
And this one, because I have worked really hard at learning how to use my camera manually and to expose for shots with lights at night, it all came together for this one, but you have no idea how many times I tried and failed in the past! Plus, I'm very proud that it was my first to appear on the PP
This because it makes me smile every time!
Has to be these two!!
and this b&w, because it puts the emphasis on the people
The 2nd one is more tricky as I'm kinda happy with quite a few of my shots so far this year but this one is one my favs in B&W:
And I really like this one of me and my boyfriend. We are in a long-distance relationship so I thought I would capture a rare moment.
And this came out far better than I expected:
And one just from Sunday are currently my top runners!
and also this one:
And I guess this one because my daughter and I did this together and it was just so much fun!
