How about some pictures that show motion? The type of motion that has a portion of the subject in sharp focus and the rest a blur OR as in panning, the complete subject in focus and the background a blurr. I will start it off with this one as I was able to cross it off my bucket list. I still have yet to accomplish the panning technique, so that is still on my bucket list.
CABO SAN LUCAS DANCER
The Thing 1 and Thing 2 are a little wind up toy. I focused on the book, did a long exposure, and place the toy so that it would move across the frame and stop shortly before the end of the exposure. It took a few tries to get it stop at the right place and for long enough to expose.
@alisonp@froggie0628 Great Job on the panning effect. I really really must get a grip on how to do this.. mine never turn out. Practice, Practice and more Practice!
@k1w1 I think it turned out great. I also learned something from seeing your post. I thought the object in panning had to actually be moving perpindicular to you, but I see you got a great shot at an angle with the object coming at you.
@sassyinma I love your dog shot... I love how he is so in to getting that ball and the way his leash is trailing behind himl ike a ribbon floating in the wind.
@shirljess Well Shirley I got that cause I did it wrong :) I'm pretty sure you are right in the angle of the object so I guess that's why my image did not turn out with the vehicle being in great focus. I really want to try again sometime...I just have to find the time.
I haven't mastered this well enough to have anything to show, but sometimes I sit beside a busy road practising, by trying to shoot the passing cars, to either show motion, or capture a clear shot of the vehicle..
Funny that you would mention this as this is my current get pushed challenge :) I have the motion bit sorted its the in focus bit I am having trouble with.
I took a photography course at our local college and panning is the one thing I actually remembered!!
Subject frozen but others blurred with motion.
More blur than focus, but it was flapping away like crazy, still to try panning!
Tried doing it yesterday, the Seagull is not as clear as I wanted it to be. I have to try it again some other time.
I would like to say this is My first Attempt Ever at Panning!! lol, but i dont even think i did it on purpose!! :).But I like it! :)
