MOTION and PANNING

January 31st, 2013
How about some pictures that show motion? The type of motion that has a portion of the subject in sharp focus and the rest a blur OR as in panning, the complete subject in focus and the background a blurr. I will start it off with this one as I was able to cross it off my bucket list. I still have yet to accomplish the panning technique, so that is still on my bucket list.

@nadaa Wow, that is soooo cool! How on earth did you do that?
January 31st, 2013
The Thing 1 and Thing 2 are a little wind up toy. I focused on the book, did a long exposure, and place the toy so that it would move across the frame and stop shortly before the end of the exposure. It took a few tries to get it stop at the right place and for long enough to expose.

Ive only attempted one and needed to use a lot of PS editing for the overall result :D

I took a photography course at our local college and panning is the one thing I actually remembered!!

I did this panning shot for a challenge. I've been meaning to have another go to see if I can get one better than this but have just not had time.

@alisonp @froggie0628 Great Job on the panning effect. I really really must get a grip on how to do this.. mine never turn out. Practice, Practice and more Practice!
January 31st, 2013
@k1w1 I think it turned out great. I also learned something from seeing your post. I thought the object in panning had to actually be moving perpindicular to you, but I see you got a great shot at an angle with the object coming at you.
January 31st, 2013
@nadaa Well, your efforts paid off! It really did turn out neat!

@gphelps5 This is so fun! I can imagine you twirling around holding this guy and snapping away ;)
January 31st, 2013
@shirljess Well Shirley I got that cause I did it wrong :) I'm pretty sure you are right in the angle of the object so I guess that's why my image did not turn out with the vehicle being in great focus. I really want to try again sometime...I just have to find the time.
January 31st, 2013
I haven't mastered this well enough to have anything to show, but sometimes I sit beside a busy road practising, by trying to shoot the passing cars, to either show motion, or capture a clear shot of the vehicle..
January 31st, 2013
@princessm I have tired this to and I have not mastered it yet ;(
