Both ( one as an early/late Christmas gift?!)

You may find a bridge a little limiting if you've been using a DSLR

Why would you go for the bridge? I'm just wondering what advantages it would have for you....

@bizziebeeme I used to have a bridge camera and sometimes miss it! It was so easy not to have to change lenses for every situation. The reach was also better that the 300mm I now have. It was also much lighter. The reason I changed, I wanted to be able to use the Lensbaby and a few other lenses.

I did try the Tamron 18-400 and although it was ok, I was not completely happy with the edges so I gave it back.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond thank you but it looks like the lens is the best way to go. I might regret the bridge camera. 😊

@granagringa thank you. I saw the camera with the same sort of range and thought it might be good for holidays but it look like the best decision is the lens. Thank you for making me think 😊

@ludwigsdiana thank you for for reply. I think the best move is the lens over the camera. 😊

I changed from a bridge camera to a DSLR and really regret it! Thinking about selling my dslr and going back to a bridge. Not a helpful response I guess!! @30pics4jackiesdiamond

@bizziebeeme The Panasonic is not full frame. It has a 1 inch sensor which is even smaller than the crop sensor in your Canon. The sensor in the Panasonic is the same size as the one in the Canon G7X and Sony RX100 cameras.
Image quality in low light will be better with the Canon and the zoom lens.

I have both a bridge camera (canon hsx50) and a canon dslr 750d I use the bridge way more often because i can just grab it and go and it can do anything from macro to far reaching zoom. I had it for 10 years and it never missed a beat but when it started to have a couple of annoying problems recently i decided to just replace it like for like second hand, rather than upgrading, i really like this camera. The dslr is heavier, i do enjoy the greater range of f-stops occasionally if i am doing specific shots around the house and garden but dont tend to take it out on walks, the bridge is far more versatile and i treat is quite casually , whereas the dslr lenses need to be looked after . it really depends how you like to work. you could pick up a bridge camera secondhand for very cheap and see how you like it, and buy a nice lens as well :)

@kali66 thank you for your response very much appreciated. But I think I’m going to go with the lens as I think I may regret the bridge after reading all responses :-)
