@cookie123 Weeeeell I just used my 55-250mm lens and stood at the minimum focal distance (1.5meters) and zoomed in to 250mm. Lens is cheap to. I got mine for about 200 bucks. Its nothing professional...very slow but great for a hobby. I'd like to upgrade as soon as I can but it fits my budget right now.
I just have a cheap little P&S camera with a 'macro' setting! I don't own a DSLR so I don't have a macro lens but not sure if this pic will qualify or not. Let me know if I'm cheating and I'll remove it :o)
I have LOVED macro since before I knew what a macro lens was, and since I still don't have one, I have to work with what my little point-and-shoot will do. I almost always use "Museum" mode for my photos, since it adapts to different light really well, and it's one of the settings that includes a macro mode. Here are a couple of my favorites:
I recently got a macro attachment...not a true lens but I can attach it so that's pretty cool :) However, before that I tried to take some macros with my regular lens...here they are:
I think technically using ET's is still a macro shot as (depending how many you use) you can still get to lifesize (1:1) or greater. All of the macros in my album - which is nearly every photo - is using a full set of ET's that give 1.42:1 magnification. Here's couple for a sample! :-)
I do not have a macro lens too rich for my pocket! I just got my DSLR in latter part of Feb. This was shot with Nikkor 18-55m lens that came with the camera. I used 2 Vivitar Macro rings, one 10X and one 4X magnification. I think it worked out pretty well.
Like others I would love a macro but can't afford one but my wonderful hubby bought me some of those screw on close-up filters for my 50mm f1.8 lens. Here are a few I got with them.
@wolfe I will be trying that soon. I presume you used a tripod as the shot is so clear, or very steady hands LOL , I am saving for a macro and a wide angle so say about 5 years................................
Oh goodness, I went through such a macro phase not long ago - I love the detail it gives... here are a few...
I won't bore you with all of them but I'm thinking that is a good representation of my macro addiction... lol. Some aren't so great and some aren't so bad - but all were fun.
One more iPhone macro.
These are very small drops (less than millimeter) on small spikes of the ear (you can see full size of that grass on the right part of the photo here http://365project.org/mikhasus/365/2011-03-16)
I mostly use macro extension tubes..$11 on ebay..
I have tried the reversing ring...so you can turn your lens backwards.. it works but I would rather the extension tubes..at least until I can afford a decent macro lens
But I also use my Canon Nifty 50 for shots like this
Im not big on macro , its alot of work lol . So far ive found it too be the hardest thing to shoot. Here are a couple of examples of mine which one was taken with cheap extention tubes and one with my 100mm macro.
i don't own a macro lens,i just got in as close as i could
50mm f1.8 + 68mm extension tubes (ET)
55-250mm + 56mm ET
55-250mm + 20mm ET
Do Extension Tubes (ET) allowed here?
the "macro" on my 70-300mm lens
I use Macro Setting and do a lot of Macros :)
I can't really get too close with my digital camera before it goes blurry - but sometimes I get lucky :-)
This is my most recent, but I have quite a few in my project!
kit lens + 36mm ET
300mm lens, no ET
:) love seeing these cool shots!!
ALL of these were taken with 50mm + 68mm ET
fair few others in my album but those are my faves ;)
I love the last one because there was no editing done ;) Actually, now that I think of it, none of these were.
i guess they are a few of mine that have been described as "macro" but i only use my standard kit lens
Took this on my i phone.
I only have a P&S but I do love taking 'macro' shots....this was yesterday's.
I think I post at least ten shots a month wich I've taken with this function.
These are with the kit telephoto lens:
55mm on Macro setting
55mm on Macro setting
I just managed to take this today and it took so much effort to get a sharp focus on it. I wish I had a macro lense :(
Is this macro? How close do you have to get for it to be considered macro?
And heaps moreeee... I love reverse-lens macro. :)
I won't bore you with all of them but I'm thinking that is a good representation of my macro addiction... lol. Some aren't so great and some aren't so bad - but all were fun.
