Hi everyone:
I've already asked Ross for his permission to share 365Project, so now I'd like to ask for your permission to share.
I’m a professional photographer and photography trainer. I belong to a photography club (North Durham Photography Association www.ndpa.ca) that focuses on education and learning. After sitting through a few months of meetings and talking to the other members, it appeared to me that not all of their educational needs were being met. As a trainer, who hasn't done a whole lot of training lately, I was looking for a way I could contribute to my club. That's when I started to realize what a great training tool a 365 Project could be and just how perfect this particular site is. This is a great community and there are some exceptional photographers here.
My goal is not to show good or bad, correct or incorrect, but to show how a 365 Project, and this site in particular, can benefit any photographer, from the novice to the hobbyist to the pro.
So what I'm asking for is permission from people to share their images as part of my presentation. I may turn this into a complete training program, but that's down the road. Right now, no money will change hands - I'm volunteering to do this for my club and I'm hoping that some of my followers and others will allow me to show off their images. If I can make money from it, then I'll address that at the time as I would feel obligated, if not legally, certainly morally, to compensate people for using their images.
Before I develop anything further, I wanted to get some feedback from the community. If you'd like me to use or images or not, please email me smiles@capturaphoto.ca
Thanks
Will
I think that is a great way. I was just saying on a comment yesterday that if you do more than just post a photo and log off, it is almost impossible to not improve as a photographer here. Some have not, but they ususally have few followers and follow only a few. Also the ability to ask a question or get feedback is a great learning tool.
If any of my photos met your needs, I would need no money but would not mind my full name below the photo. You did all the hard work and my personal goals do not include making money from my hobby/artistic outlet.
I don't see what harm could come from it.... a lot of us are here learning from each other anyway.. it would simply extend the possibilities a bit further!
@brumbe@jessicapena@asrai thanks all - and Paula, if there isn't a watermark, I'll add names - Credit given where credit due.
I've got 3 months to put this together as I need to finish my first year, first :-D
Doubt there is much of mine you would want unless it is a realist that struggles to take photos "outside the box", but I am a teacher and I have learned so much from 365 you are welcome to use my images.
Go for it - and if there's anything worth using of mine, do.
I'm going through tonight asking specific people if I can use their shots to show students what can be done using droplets for teaching 14-16 year olds. (And apologies to anyone I've not been following - it's been mad, and I'm preparing teaching for tomorrow now)
@willprentice I have no training and use a point and shoot...you can definetly track how my photo's have improved especially how I have gone into dabbling with manual mode...you have permission to use my photo's for educational purposes as well...in fact I would love to know what photo's were selected for that purpose just to sate my curiosity
@willprentice I am more than happy to share my photos with your club. I think I'm a "so-so and improving all the time" photographer with a little camera, but I am certainly a fan of the 365 Project and am 100% certain your members will have a great time participating! Please feel free to check out my albums and just give credit where credit is due when/if you use them. Like Trevor up there I'd be curious to hear which ones you used, why you used them and whatever instructional tips you had! I hope your project is successful!!
@willprentice, I am just an enthusiastic amateur who loves photography and doubt if any of my shots will be of any use to you, but feel free to use any of my images if you so wish.... would however be very nice to let me know if images have been used purely for any feedback or comments. Wishing you every success in your project.
We're on 365 to share our pictures already, so it's fun to know they'll be put to good use. I would suspect we may see an upswing in new membership as a result!

I went out to a Parent-Teacher meeting and came back to this! WoW! Thank you to everyone who replied. I will gladly add photos from each of you and add your names to your photos and the credits. Once I have the session plan prepared and Powerpoint and videos done, I'll post them so everyone can see them.
And please - don't sell yourself short. Each of us brings a unique perspective to photography and, really, there is NO right or wrong. That's the beauty of art. It helps to know the rules before you break them, but if people didn't stretch and reach, none of this would be possible.
I can also say there won't be any critiquing or comparing. Praise in public, correct in private is my motto. The goal of this is to encourage people to get out and shoot, to tell their story over the course of 365 days. We all throw pictures up just to say we took one that day, myself included, and we feel okay with that because it is okay. Like I tell my soccer teams, we're in it for the fun - there's no big trophy at the end of the road. So enjoy the ride.
I am grateful for everyone stepping up and helping. Keep your eyes peeled in December for the final course materials.
@kittykaija@terryd2011 thank you! and Katrina - I have a pair of those mittens, too!! I'll get them in this project once it gets a bit colder again ;-)
@willprentice I am currently studying to get my BA in photography, so I hope that some things I have done will help you out. In the last 12 weeks, I have seen my photography improve as I've taken more technical classes. (I've been in school since January) Good luck with your project, always glad to help spread knowledge so there are better photographs all over the world! :D
You are more than welcome to use any of mine that might help things out with your project. I would like to know which ones and just give an artists' credit, thats all I ask!
My shots are all fair game as well. However, ummmm... if any of them end up in the "try to avoid doing this" section (which is still fine by me)... don't feel obligated to credit the photographer in that case. ;-) heh heh
Will, feel free to use my shots... I love the thought of helping others. Question have you thought about setting up an on-line course that we could all follow... even though I am learning so much from this project there really is a lot technically that I don't know
@bkbinthecity@shadesofgrey@frontporchview@autumnseden@nbedi@palusami@swilde@kjarn@jannaellen@bdb3471@jinximages@raymond@hagscat@geertje@ukdanae@davidchrtrans@frameit@bugik thanks everyone. Just to be clear, this isn't a "how to take pictures" course, it's a "how a 365 Project can make a you better photographer" course. Or presentation may be the better word. No mistake section, no critiques. My thought was that if I used my own pics, it might get pretty boring. With all of the unique styles and personalities of everyone on this site, I can create a presentation that shows the best of what each of us have to offer.
Thanks again and I'll post the final video here at the end of the year.
I teach 7th & 8th grade photography students and have used several examples from this site in my lessons as well. Feel free to use any of my photos as you'd like. One of the things I teach my students is to look at the work of other photographers and learn from them. I have definitely learned a lot through this project. Good luck with your training!
You can use my photos! :-) My Ninjas, duckies, Alice, and I would be so honored--even it it is to show your students examples of bad photography! :-) It's all part of my journey!
I'd love to contribute some here. Not sure if my ducky project might help, especially since the first couple of months were taken on a camera phone, but still. I feel I have improved hugely with composition etc, and it was interesting to have to be creative with my duck, so feel free to use Greg, if you like!
@willprentice I've been pondering this issue and realised that a great deal of what I have learned is around my own behaviour, and relationship with my camera. 365 has taught me to integrate photography into my life, rather than have it as something I do occasionally. It's taught me that I have a passion that will always require more skills. It's taught me that online communities that are based on real shared interests can be more enriching than 'real world' relationships. I think these things have made me a better photographer, even though my pictures may not reflect these details. It's also taught me that taking a picture and processing are STILL two different skills even in the digital world.
@willprentice Haha. I haven't finished it yet, and I've been having some personal problems recently which have meant I haven't taken a photo every day.. but I *will* get to 365 eventually :/
You're welcome to use my images. I know I have definitely improved since the beginning of the project. Not only with my images, but also with my editing skills!
@willprentice I would be very happy to share any of my photos from this project. Perhaps some credit to the photogs represented, and (at least for me) I would prefer no prints be made. Sounds like a terrific opportunity for education, our camera club has several 365 members and from what I hear all are learning something along the way. Good luck!!
one of the advantages of joining up on 365 project is what we can learn from each other. My project is primarily a photo diary of the year for my family spread around the globe to view, and I don't even try to take clever pics, but it's a public web site and as long as you are not charging for your work, you may use any of mine, and as I teach my uni students who always cut and paste from the internet, I think you should acknowledge your sources for any you use from the site. Also encourage those in the class to join up.
@willprentice you may use mine. I certainly see dramatic changes in my pics since joining. And just joined a camera club myself! (Aldershot and Farnham.)
@willprentice You are welcome to use my photos as a learning instrument. It should be interesting when you see the difference from the starting photos to where I am now.
of course you have my permission! I believe this site is exactly what you said! And I personally have felt that my photos are better as I go, as a result of comments from people here, and photos I view here. Feel free to use any of mine :-)
Please feel free to use any that might be useful. I know I have improved and also had some disasters on 365 but it does make you stretch yourself and it's so good to learn from other photographers.
If any of my photos met your needs, I would need no money but would not mind my full name below the photo. You did all the hard work and my personal goals do not include making money from my hobby/artistic outlet.

You can have any of mine. They're not very good, but if you think it'll help, you're welcome to 'em!
I have just sent you an email to that effect.

Ditto with David @davidchrtrans don't mind to mention my name if any falls under the "biggest mistake" section :-)).
Thanks again and I'll post the final video here at the end of the year.

The slideshow just got a bit longer, but my plan is to highlight everyone who has responded!
Can't wait to see those mittens! :)
