***Album Cover Challenge #91 starts NOW***

March 4th, 2018
Congratulations to @portela @yorkshirekiwi @kali66 @k1w1 @olivetreeann for having been shortlisted in the last challenge, and thank you all for participating and voting. Also thank you, Helen @helenhall for hosting the last challenge.

Now, on to the next challenge:

"A new band", fast gaining popularity, comes to you requesting you to design the cover for its first album to be released within the week. The band doesn't have a name yet and its members ask you that when you design the album, you must also give the band its name. From what you heard of their demo CD and the feedback you've read so far, the band is on its way up. You are to be part of making music history by designing the cover for this band's first album. The band members are waiting in your sitting room - you have at least an hour to come up with a phenomenal album cover. Now, you get to work and here's how you will start:

1. THE BAND:
Go to Wikipedia and choose the link for "random article" on the top left side of the page. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your musician(s) or band.

2. THE ALBUM:
Go to quotationspage.com and choose "random quotes" from the left menu. Scroll down to the end of the page. The last 4 to 6 words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your album.

3. Next, find or take a photo that fits the album and artist(s). Album covers are square, so don't forget to crop it.

4. Then, use your favorite editing program to create your cover (or, if you don't have one, Ace members have free access to picmonkey.com -- and there are many other free programs out there). You can use any image of yours for the album, old or new, but you must use your own images and do all processing for the cover and upload it during the time frame of the challenge.

The reality of this challenge is that you actually have longer than a few hours to come up with an album cover design.
START: Saturday, March 3, 2018
END: Wednesday, March 28, 2018 (all time zones considered)
TAG: albumcoverchallenge91

All entries must be posted or uploaded in your album between those dates.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to some confusion over the deadline of the last challenge: I will consider entries that were uploaded between February 19 and 25 for this challenge.

If you have any questions or need help getting started, just post to this thread and I or another 365er will be happy to help you.

In addition to tagging your image, i encourage you to post your album on here, in order to keep this thread alive. That means it will show up on the discussion lists to the right of the home page. It also helps bring in more participants!

To post a photo on this thread:
1) Go to your page that has the photo you would like to post.
2) Click on the icon with an arrow just below the bottom right of your picture. Find the 'Embed Code' box and right click on it to copy it, then paste it in your comment below.

Phojo gone awol on you again? Try a new adventure by doing this challenge (if you haven't done before) and you just might lure that phojo back in. New to 365? A great way to impress with your artistic ability so join in!

@kali66 - thanks for pointing it out. fixed now. and looking forward to your album cover. do you think that this challenge is getting stale?

@summerfield i guess you could have put it on hiatus until someone asked about it because they missed it, there are too many darn challenges all together!

Title: Centrality in the cosmos

Quote: The most important scientific revolutions all include, as their only common feature, the dethronement of human arrogance from one pedestal after another of previous convictions about our centrality in the cosmos.- Stephen Jay Gould (1941 - 2002)

I hope that I remember to put the cover together, recently I have not managed to get it done in time!

I've been without power for the last 6 days! So glad this is still up and running. I'll put something together soon. Kali is right- there are a lot of challenges going on right now. I don't think this one is stale, but it certainly gets lost in the sauce. Maybe it's time to do one with a little twist of some sort- but I've got too much catching up to do at the moment to put serious thought to it. I'd hate to see it go, it's one of my favorites.

Vikki - I don't think that this challenge is getting stale at all. This morning I counted 18 challenges that are actually competitions to be voted on along with the extras like Word of the month, 52 week challenge, Rainbow month, etc.
That is a lot of photos to be taken if someone were to try to participate in all of them. And, if most people are like me, there are only so many hours in a day!!
And yes, like Kali and Ann says, I find everything - even my weekly SH*T list gets lost in the sauce. the Latest Discussions board is just too busy.
I will ask Ross again if he could make some changes so that there is a section just for challenges alone or perhaps move my SH*T list to his Blogged portion so that it is easy to find for everyone.

oh its today and i havent added mine yet... maybe lengthen it a week??

@farmreporter It would be nice to maybe separate the Voting threads from the Active Challenges if that's possible & then some sort of archive for things that have passed?
i love doing as many challenges as I can but sometimes I find it hard to find one suitable to do & often have to go back several pages to find one.
I love the album cover challenge & over the past few weeks actually have 2 of my images/designs being used on actual albums - 2 on Spotify at the moment by a musician friend of mine & a further one coming out as a 'real' album in the future :)

@carolineb7
I also find that challenges get lost because there is just too much action in a week.
I know how handy the Weekly SH*T list is for everyone because at least it is the one place that all challenges are compiIed in one easy spot. I did not do the SH*T list this week because I have been just too busy with farm and income taxes and am taking time off for a bit. Will definitely do it again this coming Thursday.
Yes - we do need to connect with Ross to see what can be done to make it a little easier for everyone to find challenges.
@scrivna
Ross, is there any way that the Latest Discussions can be cleaned up? I noticed that Hot Topics duplicates a lot of what is already on the Latest Discussions thread. Perhaps it could be used to separate the challenges from the rest allowing challenges its' own thread.
I also do a Weekly So Happy It's Thursday (SH*T) list that compiles challenges in one place. Perhaps that little feature can be moved to your blog or some other thread for ease of finding?
