2015 October 1: While walking around the Duck Pond yesterday, I came upon this Double-crested Cormorant resting on the banks of the pond. In my years of bird watching in this location, this is only the second time that I have seen a cormorant there.
I was quite surprised that he seemed to tolerate my presence as I inched toward him snapping photo after photo.
Although I maintained a healthy distance so as not to scare the cormorant away, I was thrilled that I was able to get much closer to a member of this bird species than I ever have before.
Lucky you to see one of these amazing birds! I love the position of its right foot. It gives a good view of those webbed feet, which I might otherwise have overlooked. Fabulous capture!
Great find, lovely shot. I have actually seen one of these, many years ago in my twitching days one these managed to get all the way across to our side of the Atalantuc.
