2016.05.26 Thursday: This is admittedly not one of my best-quality pics, but I wanted to include it in my project because it was such a wonderful experience: This afternoon I walked out in my yard only to hear a Blue Jay quite loudly calling; I soon noticed that close by on the ground was a baby Blue Jay trying to learn how to fly!
The young bird repeatedly spread his wings and clumsily hopped up in the air ...only to quickly float back down to the ground. As he hopped and fell, hopped and fell, the proud parents kept flying a few feet in front of him and calling to him.
This wonderful scene was quite close to those now-long-ago days when our sons began to walk ...It brought back delightful memories to me of Scott and I standing in front of our sons to catch them as they took their first steps.
It was quite fascinating today to watch this timeless scene play out in the bird-world! I snapped a few pics of it, very well aware that the parents were keeping a close eye to make certain that I didn't get too close -- and then backed off to leave them to their lessons!
What a wonderful experience! You were in the right place at the right time to witness this adorable scene. The picture is made even more special by your commentary!
