Rain 2016.08.20 Saturday: We had another day of rain today ...This storm system is blowing through my area in front of an approaching "cold front" that will lower our daytime high's into the 80's (degrees F). Our crops are enjoying the water, and the falling rain has been a blessing to us.
I believe that this rain, however, is from the same storm system that has caused terrible flooding in Louisiana (which is two states west of AL). In Louisiana they are experiencing a "1,000-year flood; so far the flooding has killed 13 people, 60,000 homes have been damaged, and 102,000 people have registered for federal assistance. According to the news, several thousand people have had to be rescued from the rising floodwaters there.
It is rather sad that the same rain that blesses us has caused so much damage for others. As the rain ended at sunset, I was happy to see another gorgeous rainbow and remember that it is a sign of blessing.
As I'm reading your commentary a light rainfall is falling outside. We've needed it as the days have been so hot. It really is true that some rain can be a blessing and to others not so much. Sometimes these catastrophes really show how people can pull together to help each other out. I hope that will be the case in La. Nice shot.
