Flourishing

2018.06.23 Saturday: A couple of recent storms had such high winds that they blew over the trellises in our garden, but we got out in the midst of these storms to replant our uprooted plants and put the trellises back up. I personally would have just given up, but my son Matthew loves our garden and does his best to help the plants flourish.

His efforts have paid off: We now have a bumper crop of cucumbers and peppers, and several of our watermelon plants (We are growing them vertically) have managed to thrive and we are now starting to see small watermelons growing on them.

In this pic, Matthew is standing on 2 levels of 8" high concrete blocks to place supports on our watermelons -- and it is evident that several of our sunflowers in the background are quite tall now!
Wonderful

He's quite the gardener! I should mention this method to my daughter-in-law. She has just planted her first garden with pumpkins and squash. I imagine you could grow them vertically as well. Nice shot!

I like when people grow their own fruits and vegetables... (we only grow some fruit here)... so much satisfaction when you can eat what you grow yourself :) great picture.
