Thank you so much for your views and kind comments on the shots I took yesterday.
Back in October I posted a shot of a 'nest' built by a solitary wasp in our apple tree : http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2011-10-08
I went out into the garden today and discovered it lying underneath the tree, maybe knocked down by birds. This is the tip of it. It's very thin, papery and very fragile. It measures approx.1 3/4" x 1 1/2" and it's 3/4" (and 2 layers of cells) thick. (4.5cm x 4.2cm x 1.5cm)
It's been a busy day today and I haven't had chance until this evening to take any photos and then decided to do this on manual.
Not sure about this although I got the detail I wanted.
I've sharpened the image a bit. I had to change it to b&w because it originally came out in shades of yellow and brown. Whether that was a camera setting issue or a lighting one (I used a couple of small, 40w halogen lamps and a little tenty thing) I don't know.
I cropped it as well but haven't changed the light levels beyond what happens in the sharpening of the shot.
There's a different approach to this one here : http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2012-02-15
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.
