13th April 2014

Today was the London Marathon and this year is the first year that I travelled uptown to watch. I had a vested interest as my sister’s boyfriend was running for the first time. They are both ultra fell runners but despite that training, Brian found the going quite tough as it is a totally different type of race, very little variation in the type of running and virtually no change in gradient. Despite this, he managed to complete it in 3 hours 34 minutes and 15 seconds - an impressive time. It was very difficult to actually see much of what was going on as often the crowds were 5-6 people deep and I did accidentally clop a short lady on the head with my 70-200mm lens while following Brian at the Bermondsey. It was a fantastic atmosphere and a great day - I actually caught the sun it was such good weather.

Here’s some more images from the day...

Great pov and action in this shot, Emma. Congrats to your sister's boyfriend for completing the race. I looked at your other pics and especially liked the one of the black dog resting his head on the ground.

@tristansmum There were some lovely and very patient dogs at the marathon. I felt quite sorry for them as I am sure they would rather be nosing around a park somewhere!
