4th May 2013

Today was a bit different.

I spent this morning photographing a group of lovely (and lively) children who all have one thing in common, they were born prematurely - some at only 24-weeks old - and were all cared for in the neonatal unit at St Georges hospital in South West London. The photographs will be used in the future by 'First Touch' charity which works to raise both funds for, and the profile of, this excellent facility. This year there will be a garden at Chelsea Flower show for 'First Touch', hence the potted plants.

@nicolaeastwood has recorded evidence for todays 365 (this could be the closest to a portrait of me you'll see!)
We all know someone who was born prematurely! It is interesting with the follow ups which I feel are so important!

@maggiemae It is a positive way to portray the excellent work of the charity and the outcomes for many of the children looked after at the unit. My god-daughter is in the photograph and I had never seen such a small baby in my life when I first met her at 2-days old in the neonatal unit. She is now twelve!

@helixconcepts @barrowlane thank you. The plants will all be used in the Chelsea Garden that has been designed by Patrick Collins (a three gold medalist at Chelsea) and father to one of the NNU graduates. Luckily all the plants survived the morning with only a bit of soil spilt!!
