22nd September 2013

Our last morning in Chicago - we fly out this afternoon to Quebec.

This is one of the views from the John Hancock observatory, which is literally a few minutes walk from where we are staying in Chicago. It is facing north and looking up the coast. I was really surprised that Chicago has beaches and very fine ones at that.

The shadow in the bottom centre of the image is of the John Hancock centre itself. Unlike our experience yesterday, there were no queues and a very nice coffee bar on the observatory level - I have a thing about trying to have a tea or coffee in all the tall buildings we visit - so far we've managed it in the Sky Tower in Auckland and the Menara Tower in Kuala Lumpur (looking forward to the CN Tower in Toronto)!
This is beautifully composed, Emma, and almost looks as if it had been taken from a low-flying plane.

I love that you can see the shadow of the building you are in! Great picture!
