10th November 2013

Today was Remembrance Sunday. As we were still in Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire, we were able to watch the parade through the village and see the laying of the poppy wreathes on the war memorial.

Although I did not lose any of my relatives in the First or Second World War (one Grandfather was stationed in Egypt and the other was a war correspondent), it always moves me when the bugle plays 'The Last Post'. I think of all the soldiers far away in the cemeteries across the world that we have visited and think how sad it is that they were not able to be buried back in England.

(Apols. I have just noticed that I have not adjusted my camera clock after the clocks went back last month - whoops - actually taken at 10.50am)
Nice shot to commemorate the day, Emma. I share your feelings about the soldiers, although I also didn't lose relatives in either war. My dad was in India, in the Pay Corps and my mother, in the ATS, stayed in England.
