Clouds over the Belmont Hotel

The Belmont Hotel was built about 1946 in North Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As the city changed, the area declined and the hotel closed. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, a construction company considered renovating the rooms for evacuees; apparently they were too far gone to make that feasible. Today it is "vacant," surreptitiously occupied by homeless people. I love taking photos of it, but I'm not totally comfortable there....
love the shot -at least they have someplace to sleep in-:)be careful 'tho !

Am seeing a lot of New Orleans & Baton Rouge through your lenses. yes when we were there we noticed a lot of buildings no longer in use or damaged by katrina. Hope they start rebuilding.

What a shame that such a buiulding should be cosidered uneconomic to repair or restore. It must be interesting to wander around, but could be a bit scary if the unofficial residents take exception to your presence.
