By Sergio Odeith, Museum of Public Art, Baton Rouge, LA
I struck gold today! (Of course I did not have the best lens for the opportunity, but that is another story.) As I was photographing street art, I bumped into one of Baton Rouge's graffiti artists who let me into the Museum of Public Art, a small vacant building that is usually locked. This was one of my favorites.
@joysabin Thanks! The artist, Sergio Odeith, is internationally known ( http://www.museumofpublicart.org/), brought to Baton Rouge several years ago by a group promoting public art. I will tell the local artist when I take my family back sometime to see the murals. They have not created much new art recently because of (what else?) lack of money.
That's exciting to make a connection like that and so awesome to have your own "private viewing". Maybe you could contact a local paper with some of your pictures and your feelings about the encounter. Sometimes just bringing out awareness sparks people to give.
