Some of the most poignant buildings in a ghost town are the school and church. Lake Valley, NM was founded in the 1880's when silver was discovered. The railroad came, the town boomed--and then silver was devalued in 1893 and many buildings on Main Street burned in 1895. The residents must have retained their optimism, because they built this school in 1904. Some residents remained until 1994. Tougher people than I am!
I have to say this school doesn't look nearly that old, however, I now understand the screendoor close up you posted the other day better Great POV and light to this one Diane
