Another Smithfield

Not the ham, the town or plantation in Virginia. This one is on River Road near Port Allen, Louisiana. It reminds me a larger version of my grandmother's house in New Jersey. I bet generations of kids have played on these galleries.

I had never seen it, so I put the GPS coordinates in my phone and found myself driving through an old industrial site. The house was a couple of miles away.

My guess is that it was originally built for whoever owned what was produced in that industrial area. What a beautiful house! The processing really adds to the vintage feel.
