A Sicilian tradition that has flourished in South Louisiana, the altar is set up to honor and thank St. Joseph and also to help those less fortunate. After the blessing of the altar, a meal is served to everyone. March 19 is the feast day of St. Joseph, but some churches set up altars last weekend.
