Sorry for more red rocks and snow!! Today we had sunshine all day! It looks like we may have more snow the beginning of next week! Thank you all so much for your amazing comments over the past few days! I am humbled by your generous remarks!
I am a little behind on commenting, so thank you for your patience as I get going here!!
I have to add that i love your style always including foreground mid ground and background and i believe that you take an excellent photo before any processing ..i just love how you turn the colors so well and everything looks so dramatic!...Great Work!
@swguevin Thank you Sheila! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @mwingerson Thank you Meredith! @ellimae Thank you so much Ellen for your amazing comments!! I have been addicted to HDR lately. I take three shots of the same scene at usually +2, 0, -2 exposure. I have been using a software program - Photomatix for merging the photos. Once merged, I then make adjustments in Photomatix adjusting the strength, lighting, ect before saving. At this point, I fine tune in either Photoshop or Lightroom to adjust contrast, saturation, and local adjustments. Depending on the scene, I like to use filters. I have been shooting mostly in RAW too, so that I can retain as much information for post processing as possible. I just love using HDR especially in bad lighting situations to make sure I capture all the shadows and highlights. I hope this helps and sure appreciate you asking!! @gark Thank you Gark!! Such a compliment coming from a fellow Coloradan!!
@exposure4u Thank you Wendy for thaken the time for such a detailed answer..One last question when you say HDR is that in a specific program (photomatix or lightroom ect..)???I have used the HDR in Picnik only and never get the results you get!! thanks again you have a great following! :)
@ellimae No problem Ellen! I too started out using just Picnik, which I think is great too, but read about Photomatix and decided to try it out. You can actually download a free trial from hdrsoft.com. It also has an introduction video. I would recommend trying it out first to see if you like the program. I would also recommend a book I purchased through Amazon. It goes into more detail about what HDR is and the differences between different processing techniques. The title and author is Complete Guide to High Dynamic Range Digital Photography (A Lark Photography Book) by Ferrell McCollough. Thanks again for asking!
I LOVE this photo!! FAV!!! I also love Photomatix. A lot of my more recent photos were done in Photomatix but only with one shot done in raw. I'm a shoot and run kinda gal lately. Hopefully this summer I'll have more opportunities to use my tripod for shots! Great job!!!
Wendy - Another outstanding image. This one really give a feeling of depth/3-D, well done. Home many exposures do your merge? Are you using Photomatix, Nik? Thanks.
This is so beautiful, Wendy! You are so lucky to have such beautiful landscape so close by. I appreciate your explanation on how you process them. I have photomatix and photoshop but never get such amazing results as you. I shoot Raw also but have been just using one image so maybe i need to start taking three exposures! Very well done and the colors are so beautiful!
Since I've never seen red rocks and snow in real life, I'm never bored by such a sight. This is awesome, Wendy! It looks like it's 3D. I've gotten behind in commenting too. It's easy to do.
Wendy I thoroughly enjoyed looking at you or images. You take such amazing photos. I see you use photo matrix? I have HDR Efex pro and have not been able to even come close to some of the images I have seen done with photo matrix. I did just purchase a book on HDR so I hope to gain some insight on tone mapping and better ways to enhance my HDR.
@ronphotos365 Hi Ron! Thank you so much for your comments! Right now I have been using 3 exposures, but would like to try 5 and see what results I would get. I use Photomatix for the merging. I have played around with Nik too, but am a little more comfortable with Photomatix. @rumonkey Thank you so much Corey for your comments!! I do like Photomatix and tried the free download of HDR Efex pro. I think it's a great program too, but I feel more comfortable with Photomatix right now. Love your work!!!
There can never be enough snow and red rocks. One of my favourite places we visited in the US was Bryce Canyon while it was snowing. It was so gorgeous, I just wish I had a good camera back in those days!!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@mwingerson Thank you Meredith!
