I wanted to try some natural lighting shots with my daughter and she was a great model! She just loves playing violin and she is so talented! I thought the black and white was better for this shot with the contrasts.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @catwhiskers Thank you Nan! @ellimae Thank you so much Ellen! I definitely want to get more comfortable with portraits.
This is a stunning portrait, Wendy! Absolutely *everything* works! Simple background: no distractions there. Her expression. The tilt of her head. Hand on the instrument. Brilliant!
For all the flak I've given you about B&W posts [given where you live], I have come to the conclusion that B&W will be better for portraits more often than color. Now that I think about it, it makes sense. Color just isn't always necessary; it's about contrasts, lighting and "softnesses," I think. (Yeah, I've been toting a camera for how many decades and I'm just now figuring this out?) Oh, well. Better late…
Instant Fave. It reminds me of my daughter so much when she was that age. She went on to major in violin performance and she's now in the process of getting her teaching credential. She teaches violin on the weekends.
for your daughter - practice, practice. If you love it....practice. eat, sleep and practice some more. Become the violin.
@swguevin Thank you Sheila! @rhoing Thank you so much, Thom for your great comments and feedback! I sure appreciate it and glad to see you are appreciating black and white photography too, lol! @webfoot Thank you so much Paul!! She does love it and I sure hope she continues on for a lifetime! She has already given mini lessons to a young friend of ours just starting to play. I can see her doing what your daughter has decided to do and pursue education. Thank you again! @sjodell Thank you Sarah! @jgpittenger Thank you Jane! @kwind Thank you so much! @kiwichick Thank you Lesley! @petaqui Thank you! @simster Thank you Simmy! @abhijit Thank you! @ronphotos365 Thank you Ron! @russianblue Thank you Kass! I hope she keeps it up too! @doyouseewhatisee Thank you so much Meredith!!
