Under the Bark
Something has been tunneling under the bark on this tree. I assume it is an insect of some kind- so let me know if you have any ideas about what kind.

In Australia we have the Longicorn beetle that does this type of damage but in the U.S. and Canada there are problems with the Asian Longhorn Beetle. Hope this is of help.

My sources say that this was caused by a Bark Beetle, not an Asian Longhorn Beetle.
