I go away for one day to Sheep Day to get some education, and come back to a kitchen floor that looks like it hasn't been swept in a week!
Oh well, that is what happens when a farm house is shared by three dogs.
I am not happy with this shot.
I used my macro lens, took my camera off of Auto and experimented the different settings.
The sun was streaming through the window nicely, but washed out the dirt.
Any ideas on what to do to make this a better shot?
I regularly find nuts and bolts in my tumble drier if OH is left to put his farm clothes in himself. Not sure how my poor washing machine copes with all the mud/oil etc. either!
This is a great shot! If you want more depth of field.... Put your camera on a tripod, get it in focus, ISO 100, F22 then zero out your meter. Depending on your light it might require a shutter speed of 10 to 30 seconds. If you do this and you have a lens that has vibration reduction, remember to turn this off when you are on a tripod. Also when using a tripod I turn my camera to a timer or delayed shutter release so when i take the picture I wont shake the camera.
@kathyladley Thank you, Kathy!
This is exactly the advice I was looking for. I will try that for my next dirt pile (and living on a farm, that won't take long!) and see if there is a difference.
@farmreporter I hope it helps. This is exactly what I have been working on in my photos. So this is new to me too. So much to remember. Often after I do this I go out to shoot and my camera is still on the timer.
