First calf of the year by farmreporter

First calf of the year

We normally calve on grass in May, but did not get the bull out in time last year. We are now calving on snow in March.
Bonus is that calves will be bigger in the fall. Downside is snow will soon be mud, which is hard on the babies.
Oh well, they will be tough stock!
This momma raised twins by herself last year, so I know that this little girl, who is just an hour old when this picture was taken, will be well looked after.
Really cute shot.

Hi Farm Reporter,
I'm your get-pushed partner for this week. You've got some adorable pictures of your animals in your album and some very attractive snow shots. However, the primary feature of both snow and your sheep is that they are white. :) I'd like to see you introduce some more vibrant colours in to your photography. I'd like you to try and take shots to go with the song: "Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue. I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too." You could either take one colour each day or try and include a selection of them in a smaller number of shots so that you have completed the whole rainbow by the end of the challenge. Have fun.

@missmercy You may have noticed that I haven't been posting a lot of pictures over the last week or so. Life has calmed down a bit so I will be doing your challenge starting today! They may still have animals in therm, but there will be colour as well!

@farmreporter I'll keep my eyes open for them then. :)

Lovely shot showing a tender moment. That's the worst thing about snow for me, the mud afterwards.
