Thistle have to do ...

... for my photo today. (As in this will have to do) So sorry for the lame play on words.
Scottish thistle have taken over the cattle water trough area. They really are beautiful in their own prickly way. I managed to get one in bloom, and one just coming into bloom in the same shot.
Poor cows - they do have to be careful how they approach the troughs.

They are beautiful! For some reason, they've stared growing in my flower and veggie beds, after ten years of only seeing them in the wild.
