This bi-centennial farm, located at Fraserfield near Williamstown, produce pasture raised meats of all types – lamb, beef, pork, chicken, and turkey – on the farm that the owner was raised on. Their beautiful stone house, sitting high on a hill with a view of the Adoriondack Mountains to the south, was built in 1812 by Col. Alexander Fraser. They showcase their heritage livestock at the Williamstown Fair and presently have a heritage sow and her piglets at Upper Canada Village. There are two barns to house their livestock. While they keep all their animals on pasture during the summer, they do bring them into the open free stall barn style barn, built in 2000, to have lamb or calve. The older cement bunker barn houses the sheep in winter along with providing hay storage in the mow year around.
very interesting, wendy. i just did some reading about this family - at least i think it's the same family. i visited ucv earlier in the summer and in fact posted a pic of one of the pigs, so maybe it was the fraserfield pig! my maiden name is fraser so you had me hooked right away ...lol. thanks for all the info and a lovely pic.
