Summerfield asked me to do a photo collage using four different white balance settings. Well, I thought and thought about how I wanted to do it, and knew that I wanted to use something round that would meet in the middle.
The antique plate given to me by my Grandmother fit the bill perfectly! It is at least 80 years old and is rimmed with 22K gold. I remember admiring it as it hung on the wall when I was a child.
All photos were taken outside on a cloudy day, at the same time. While balance settings I used were, clockwise from top left : sunshine, cloudy, florescent, and incandescent.
Also, it is funny how the camera will sometimes pick up details that the naked eye misses - like the splotch of dirt on the rim of the bottom right quarter! It was in all four photos I had taken!
that's a great looking plate. i have one for my kitchen which belonged to my ex's mother but it broke when i moved last winter. what i love about your photo is how you presented the four WB shots, it's really great to see how the WB settings affected the outcome of each shot. aces on this, wendy! aces!
It was funny, actually. I thought of what I wanted to do, and then sat down to do it and soon realized I didn't have a clue how to do it! But, with a bit of jigging, it wasn't too bad afterall! @30pics4jackiesdiamond
@30pics4jackiesdiamond - hah! that there wasn't photoshopped! that can be done sooc and you know how to make a collage in ribbet. so there! get ready. we may be partner sooner than you might wish to. hehehehe!
Wendy, @summerfield has bullied me ever since I won the first competition I entered on 365! She's pushed me and coaxed me and watched me behind the scenes (not sure how as not a follower!) But, if we are ever paired in a challenge I had a great idea for her earlier today!!!! It'll be Aces!!!
You always come up with such creative ways to meet your challenges and up your skills. You have really been working on that post-processing and it shows!
@granagringa Looks as if your trip is going really well! Seeing so many new sights and meeting new people! Lucky you!
There was no post processing here - all four shots were SOOC and then I cropped them square, and put them into a collage. Fiddling with it to make them meet in the middle was finicky, but that was about it.
Your Challenge-
Looking through a few months of your photos I see you documenting the beauty of farm life. But when I think of living on a farm I think of early mornings and HARD work. I challenge you to document the hardships, the trial and tribulations of working on a farm The underbelly so to speak lol.
I can so appreciate how your time is eaten up by doing crafts. I love it but handmade things take time and often patience hahaha. I applaud you for trying to get it in done in time for Christmas. I have learned that I am not very good with that particular deadline.
thanks for being my challenge partner. I am thinking hard already about what I am going to do.
Wendy, I did notice you hadn't posted for a while so waited for you to issue me a challenge. I follow you too. I am going to make this easy as it can be a stressful season. Take a picture with no obvious Christmas "stuff" but departs a holiday theme to you. A candle, a star (venus visible here), a church, a gathering, a store, a line of children waiting for Santa, a pile of credit card rece[pts or a menorah (I did say no Christmas stuff but not other holiday stuff). Go have fun.
@farmreporter - congrats, partner. finalist! yay!

Thanks for the explanation of the shot, it really is an impressive piece of work!
