Shadow and I enjoyed wandering the K9 Sportsfest held at the Maxville Fairgrounds this weekend.
Like me, Shadow does not get off the farm so he was beside himself watching all the dogs perform and compete in the various events.
I was amazed at how far from the ring dogs started their jump - and some of them - like this one - tucked in as tight as a rocket ship going through the ring.

It does look absolutely amazing! All dogs jumped from this far back and all dogs made it through easily. I am going to stand in front of the ring next time I have opportunity to photograph this.
Fabulous action capture. I remember when I was doing some agility training with Skye, I was constantly amazed at how the dogs judged all the different jumps and that they seemed to launch themselves way to soon but seldom missed the jump.

I am thinking about putting Shadow into agility though they say that herding dogs do not do well in agility since good herding dogs need to work independently with minimal direction and agility dogs need to watch their trainer completely.
But - I think it would be fun to do anyway. And, it would get Shadow socialized with other dogs.
@farmreporter I loved doing agility with Skye, she had fun as well but did often choose her own course. One of my problems was that the closest training classes was over an hours drive from me and the class lasted only 45 minutes! Skye also suffers occasionally from motion sickness which didn't help when it came to travelling.
