NF-SOOC-2017 Day 8 by farmreporter

NF-SOOC-2017 Day 8

I am quickly discovering that the view I see on the back of my camera does not really translate to what I see on the computer screen when I upload my photos to view.
It would appear that what looks properly exposed when view on the back of my camera is not bright enough on the computer screen. GRRR....
So, the really nice photo I took of the pond at the conservation park was under-exposed and dark. That is not a big deal when we have the ability to lighten the whole scene in post processing but is taboo for this particular challenge.
Oh well - I will save that photo and who knows, it may find its' way onto 365 when life gets busy.
I understand your situation. I have learned that the camera screens can be dimmed so that they are not as bright then allowing you to see more of what will appear on your computer screen but it's been a while and I can't remember where you'd find that on your camera menu. But it's somewhat like what you can do to your "ipad" - what do they call that? Blue light? or Night light- something dimmer so that it doesn't keep you from falling asleep. You can do that in a camera as well. Wish I could tell you more- but the technical side of photography is not my forte! This is an interesting shot- at first you think it's the ground, but then you see that it's water. Good shot!

Very moody atmosphere. Indeed the view on the camera can be very deceiving

@olivetreeann
Thank you, Ann. I will have to check that out.

Do you shoot in raw or jpeg Wendy? Shooting in raw, the image on your cameras LCD screen will show a jpeg image, but when you load the image to your computer the image will be uploaded as a raw file. This will result a flatter image than seen on your camera screen. Still a moody looking shot though 😉

@paul10
My camera has two cards which so I use one for jpeg and the other, bigger card, I use for RAW - but have been using just the jpeg card for this SOOC challenge as required.

I am getting to grips with jpeg and raw (which I thought went with not cooking!!) Anyway way, like me I see you are soocing and nf 50mming!! Oh- we're partnered up for get pushed too!!
So, how do you feel about combining 50mm challenge and adding a bit of Dutch Tilt to add to the difficulty of composure?? If you've done this to death let me know and I'll think of something else.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond
Sounds like a fun challenge and have never done Dutch Tilt so it is definitely a new experience for me!
Will send your challenge this evening.

@farmreporter take your time x

I've noticed a real difference between how the image appears on the computer, the camera and the phone if I look at it there after I've posted. Have you calibrated your computer screen? There are free downloads to do that. I think it helps.
