Full Wolf Moon

The first full moon of 2018 actually happened on the very first day of the year! And, to boot, it is a Super Moon (not that you can tell in this shot)
So I calculated when it would rise, what angle it would rise at, and then went searching a good spot where I would have a nice foreground.
Wellll .... I was just too close to my foreground with my original shots so, while the moon looks big and wonderful, the foreground sucks.
I saw this scene in my rearview mirror while driving home so stopped for a quick shot. Not what I had in mind but it will do!

it looks ominous, doesn't it? it's rather cloudy here so i couldn't see it from where i normally see it. but maybe it has moved direction. darn it. i'm not about to go out and look for it now. it'll show up somehow from my window.

aces on this shot, wendy. i love how you composed the shot but i still would love to see the other shots with the sucky foreground. :-)

If you are interested - and brave enough for this weather - moonset tomorrow morning is 7:51 am and sunrise is 7:37 so light conditions will probably be perfect for grabbing the full moon with a nice foreground as it sets. (That's for Cornwall - TO will be a bit different).

I rather like this... for what it's worth, I would have cropped off the bottom third and cropped in from the right, just to the left of the power pole
