Coming In For A Landing - Vaseline Filter

April @aecasey challenged me to make and use some DIY filters. She even sent links on how to do them, and there are certainly many to do!
I tried three of them - but finally decided on using the tried and true Vaseline smeared on cellophane covering the lens.
I rather like how the filter gives the scene a sun flare look.
Here is my response to your challenge, April! @aecasey We are both running late this week!
Thank you for the great challenge. It was fun trying out these filters. It is amazing what you can use and do with everyday objects. (I'm keeping a sparkly, translucent ribbon for a special occasion - lol!)

Ooooo...this is cool. I've been afraid to try the vaseline. Now I think I will have to give it a try. Well done!

Very cool effect. Have read about using vaseline as a filter but never been brave enough to try it.

I was amazed at how much Vaseline had to be applied to make it work. The videos make it look like there is just a thin skim but I had a really thick coat on the cellophane.

Terrific capture 😊

I do like your idea of the Vaseline on the tape rather than on the filter lens. I would be afraid I couldn't get my lens clean. Interesting effect and a good thing to know.

I never heard of this effect before. It works very nicely. Glad to read it wasn't on your actual lens as I thought at first, cellophane sounds a better way.

AND you caught the subject well!!! Bonus!!!

Awesome shot! I should try this!

Really like this. And I'd always thought Vaseline was applied directly to the lens... thank goodness I never tried it!
