Thank you all for your encouragement. I REALLY need to figure out layers. So wish I would have made a blank background layer rather than my main photo - and would have gotten rid of the column on the left.
Such a learning experience but I am getting there ... looking forward to the next challenge already!

There is more than one way to skin a cat as the old expression goes!
I used Picmonkey to crop out the column on the left - wished I would have thought of that last night!!
Now I am happy!!
