I keep trying to get that elusive moon shot when the moon sets just before the sun rises or the moon rises just after the sun sets.
What I am trying for is to have the moon low on the horizon so I can incorporate it with a nice foreground - barn, trees, pond, river, or maybe even people.
I would like the sun to be just below the horizon so it still throws some light but does not over whelm the moon.
While it didn't happen on this cold, frigid morning, it will happen one of these days!
You can get an app to tell you where sun etching is, called The Photographers Ephemera and bloke who gave talk to camera club was extolling it's virtues as he uses it all the time. Think he said it's $10/£15. Fav for photo btw
After seeing so many tight moon shots (especially when there is an eclipse or something) I have come to love the shots where we see the moon the way we actually see it.
@joansmor
I am with you about seeing the moon as we see it, Joan! I find it is how it fits in the landscape that I really like. I will continue trying for that elusive shot of it over a barn ...

There is sun set and rises, along with moon set and rises for every part of the world available on line free. I use them all the time. It even tells you what direction the moon will come up in because that changes all the time as well.
Save your money - it is probably all you need to know!
@farmreporter That said I had to do a moon close up when I first joined so I have no reason to complain. But will wait for your barn shot. I tried a neat shot a couple of months ago and was having a big problem. It was super early and my mind wasn't putting together fstop, shutter speed and ISO. So I appreciate this shot.
Wendy this is lovely. It may not touch what you had in your mind but it is one beautiful moonshot FAV
Wonder when Ross @scrivna can install an edit button?!!
