It's Getting Political

While this was an excellent opportunity for me to practice street photography using a shorter lens from a closer distance, I did not feel safe enough to mingle with so many people not wearing masks.
Besides, there was a police presence and the potential of getting arrested during a stay-at--home order was not appealing!
You are smart! Great capture of her demonstrating...while on her phone :)

dissenters all, these young people don't understand. while i admit i am a little sick and tired of not being able to go around, i am afraid to venture and encounter people who don't wear masks and would engage you in an exchange like they know everything. worse, you might encounter one who is vicious and malicious who would spit on you, and what if they're unknowingly asymptomatic? there was a woman near my sister's place who licked the banking machines and spit all over during the first lockdown, have you heard that? or some assholes who'd walk inside the bus and challenge the driver if they're asked to put on a mask, then stroll along and say "this is a free country".

good shot, btw.

I really feel for those of you in the cities. It must be absolutely horrid being locked down in a small apartment and not able to get out at all. And then to face the crowds when you do get out.
Life is a little different out here in the country. Alexandria has a population of under 4,000 and that includes a wide area around it.
You can walk down main street in the middle of rush hour and not get hit by a car. It is quite easy to maintain social distance here ... sidewalks are always empty even during the Christmas rush.
I guess people in this area are frustrated that they are treated in the same way as cities and forced to stay home when they would be almost as isolated walking down the street.
Yet - the bureaucrats and politicians who make the rules do not understand because they never leave the city to find out what it is like in the rest of the province. What works in Ottawa and Toronto does not work for everyone.

@farmreporter - all i want to be able to do is eat at a restaurant or shop when i have to shop for something. the lockdown business is just stupid. i really believe we are being managed by idiots!

By the way - it probably goes both ways.
We here in the country have a hard time knowing what it is like in the city. And yes - those who lick ATM's and refuse to wear a mask would be far more concentrated - and seen - in the city.

You are so right. It is the in-mates who are running the show at the moment. Controlling this pandemic is a matter of personal responsibility.
Treat us as the adults we are to behave in a responsible manner.
We will wear a mask, keep socially distant, wash our hands, count the number of customers in a small business before entering, and get on with life.
Don't treat us as children who must be told when and where we can go. And don't destroy the thousands of small businesses who could easily arrange to operate in a safe manner while allowing the big box stores to operate with hundreds of customers in their facility.
It's madness!

A good candid, but I wonder if this young woman's heart is really in the protest.

The bottom line is if people showed more respect for others and a little less &"it's all about me" attitude we might not have many of these problems.
