Glengarry Routes - Stop 4

St. Elmo
Established in 1852, this tiny community has two churches. This one, the beautifully detailed Gordon Free Church, is named after its first minister, Rev. Daniel Gordon, whose son Charles W. Gordon, (more widely known by his pen name Ralph Connor) wrote 'The Man from Glengarry' and 'Glengarry School Days' and other internationally acclaimed novels.
Just around the corner is the Glengarry Congregational Church (1937), the oldest log chapel in Ontario built by the Congregationalists.
